Medical Curriculum

The Medical Curriculum focuses on medical applications of biotechnology in human pathophysiology, diagnostics laboratory, in the development of treatments. In addition to the common path provided in the study plan, the curriculum provides graduates:

  • Knowledge of diagnostic elements, highlighting the biotechnological aspects in areas such as clinical biochemistry and clinical molecular biology, medical genetics, microbiology and diagnostic imaging, even with notes on methods and regulations aimed at safety and bio-security laboratories where biological materials are used.
  • Knowledge of principles and standards of business administration. This knowledge can be optionally supplemented with insights on the rules governing the scientific and professional activities of the biotechnologist working in the bio-medical field.

Students who choose the medical curriculum are generally interested in applications in the field of human medicine and for the most part continue their studies with the Master's Degree in Medical Biotechnology, and then try to get a PhD or other employment opportunities in research and biomedical diagnostics fields. In other cases, they turn to other degree courses offered by University including the Master of Science in Human Nutrition or even the single-cycle degree course in Medicine and Surgery. A small group of students chooses the Master of Science in Computer Science Genetics. Others continue their studies in other universities or aim directly at a working experience.
